SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The BYU Cougars have a winning tradition that dates back to the days of LaVell Edwards, Jim McMahon and BYU’s 1984 National Championship. That winning tradition was made visual in a video posted to Youtube.
The video was shared by All Sports Rankings on Youtube. It is an animated timeline showing the wins by top tier NCAA football programs since 1980.
BYU is in the top 1o for much of the video timeline but falls off near the end. The video finishes with the 2019 season, the top 3 teams are Ohio State, Alabama and Florida State.
In fact, since 1980 BYU has had 346 wins, ranking just outside the Top 10 of all college football programs.
Ohio State leads the way with 392 wins in that time period, followed by Alabama and Florida State.
The Cougars are coming off of a 7-6 season and will be looking to improve entering Kalani Sitake’s fifth season as head coach.
Despite the uncertainty around their schedule in the fall, BYU will look to achieve another winning season and a bowl appearance, even if the Cougars add big-time matchups like Alabama to the schedule.
