From NIU’s press release, “Due to restrictive stadium capacity limits and safety measures set in place by the state of Illinois during the COVID-19 pandemic, NIU and City of Bridgeview officials agreed to move the game out of SeatGeek Stadium.”
This is the first game on BYU’s 2020 football schedule that has been altered in some way due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
For fans who have purchased tickets to BYU’s second meeting all-time with NIU through SeatGeek, their tickets will be refunded and they will have the option to purchase tickets to the game at Huskie Stadium.
BYU and Northern Illinois have met one previous time and it took place two years ago in Provo with the Huskies pulling off a shocking upset. Defeating BYU in a defensive battle that resulted in a final score of 7-6.
This is the second game of a two-game series that was originally agreed upon by the two schools in 2013. The two programs have no additional games scheduled as of now after the 2020 season.
Huskie Stadium’s capacity is 24,000. That’s 2,038 seats fewer than Toledo’s Glass Bowl, a venue that BYU played at last season.
