PROVO, Utah – One of the new quarterbacks in the state of Utah this year that is drawing interest from local colleges is Timpview’s Liu Aumavae. Aumavae received an offer from BYU and Passing Game Coordinator Aaron Roderick this week.
A member of the class of 2022, Aumavae is preparing for his first season at Timpview after prepping at St. John’s College in the Washington D.C. area. Aumavae was the backup quarterback behind BYU signee Sol-Jay Maiava who will be joining the Cougars this fall.

The 6-foot-2, 185-pound signal-caller who still has two more years of high school, projects to be Timpview’s starting quarterback this season.
Liu Aumavae’s father, Drew Aumavae, was Liu’s quarterback coach at St. John’s College and currently works with the Elite 11 and QB Influence. The offer from BYU is Aumavae’s first scholarship offer from an FBS program.
BYU head coach Kalani Sitake has said in the past that he would like to sign at least one quarterback in each recruiting class. Aumavae becomes one of the top targets for the Cougars at QB in the 2022 class.
With Aumavae at quarterback, Timpview becomes a team to watch this fall as he teams up with a roster that features defensive end Logan Fano, BYU commit Raider Damuni, running back Targhee Lambson, and tight end Carsen Ryan.
BYU also offers a QB in the class of 2023
Along with offering Aumavae, BYU extended an offer to a player heading into his sophomore year of high school this fall in Nicholaus Iamaleava Jr. from Long Beach Poly High School.
Blessed to receive an offer to BYU. Thank you @CoachRoderick for giving me the opportunity to further my education! 🐆#GOCOUGS #TEAMTOA #QBCALVARY#SPEEDBURNERS pic.twitter.com/PFyhxtx9C7

BYU was Iamaleava’s third FBS offer, the others coming from Hawaii and Washington State of the Pac-12 Conference. Iamaleava is a big pro-style quarterback at 6-foot-5, 195-pounds. The rising star out of Long Beach Poly is the first quarterback to receive an offer from BYU in the class of 2023.
