Dayan Ghanwoloku: Collegiate Career
A former three-star recruit out of Northridge High School, Ghanwoloku, formerly known as Dayan Lake, received offers from numerous Group of 5 programs. Ghanwoloku had some letters and interest from programs like Alabama but didn’t get an offer from the Crimson Tide. Decommitted one month before the 2015 signing day, then ended up recommitting and signing with BYU.
Ghanwoloku was expected to be in the two-deep in the season opener at Nebraska in Ghanwoloku’s true freshman season, but a paperwork issue caused by the NCAA forced BYU to redshirt the Layton, Utah native.
From 2016-2019, Ghanwoloku started in 43 games playing at both cornerback and safety. A big playmaker, Ghanwoloku had seven interceptions along with three forced fumbles, and seven fumble recoveries. Cornerback was once viewed as his natural position, but made the transition to safety in 2018 with ease and played in both spots during his senior season.
Had a game-winning INT in overtime against USC last season. Along with shining on defense, Ghanwoloku was proud to play on special teams. Everywhere you looked during BYU games, Ghanwoloku was making plays for the Cougars.
