SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Starting next season, University of Utah athletics will be cutting the capacity of the Huntsman Center for men’s basketball games.
The capacity will be reduced from 15,000 to 8,500 fans, according to Scott Kull, Deputy Director of Athletics of External Operations for Utah Athletics.

The plan is to curtain off the upper bowl. Season ticket holders in the upper bowl will be able to move down for the same price as their current tickets.
“The purpose is really to give us the best chance to win – to really create a home-court advantage for student-athletes and coaches,” Kull said. “But also to improve the game experience for fans and season ticket holders.”
If the need arises, the upper bowl will be used as general admission tickets.

The University of Utah men’s basketball team, coached by Larry Krystowiak, went 16-15 last season but put on a pleasant season for their fans at home winning 12 or 14 games at the Huntsman Center.
