PROVO, Utah – The stay at home movement during this Coronavirus pandemic has been hard on everyone. Being active is more challenging in this unprecedented time but it takes on greater importance.
BYU football coach Jeff Grimes is showing all of us that an active lifestyle can be achieved during these difficult times. The third-year offensive coordinator has been going to his personal Twitter account to show he and his family going out on hikes during the quarantine.

“Get out & go,” said Grimes on his Twitter page. Those are words that we can all live by as we try to avoid eating everything in the refrigerator and binge-watching all of the shows on our streaming subscriptions. It can be difficult to keep an active lifestyle right now.
Like all of us, coaches like Jeff Grimes have had to adjust their lifestyles due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Right now would have been one of the busier times on a college coach’s calendar on the recruiting trail as the spring evaluation period was about to start. A key period on the recruiting calendar for coaches to travel and find the next great players to join their respective programs. Now with the evaluation period canceled, recruiting as a whole remains in a dead period mandated by the NCAA until May 31st.
So hikes to Grove Creek Spring Trail and Battle Creek Falls Trail with family now take priority for Grimes and his family as they work to stay active.

How Do I Prevent It?
The CDCÂ has some simple recommendations, most of which are the same for preventing other respiratory illnesses or the flu:
- Avoid close contact with people who may be sick
- Avoid touching your face
- Stay home when you are sick
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue and then throw the tissue in the trash
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom, before eating, and after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing. Always wash your hands with soap and water if your hands are visibly dirty.
- If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
The CDC recommends wearing cloth face coverings in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain (e.g., grocery stores and pharmacies), especially in areas of significant community-based transmission.
