SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah State Athletic Commission has named Red Rocks star MyKayla Skinner as the Collegiate Female Athlete of the Year.

Skinner did not spend this past season with the Red Rocks as she fully committed to prepare for the Olympic Games.

On April 25, 2019, Skinner officially confirmed her intention to return to elite gymnastics to make a run at the 2020 Summer Olympic Games. Now, she will have to wait until 2021 to make a run at Olympic Gold.

During the 2018-19 season, Skinner won two Pac-12 individual titles and helped the Red Rocks to second in the conference and into an Elevated Eight berth at the NCAA Championships.

Skinner’s career accomplishments is a long list that includes first team All-American eight times, four NCAA and four regular season awards, four top-10 finishes across both semifinals at NCAA Championships, 34 individual event wins in 2019 and NCAA Baton Rouge Regional all-around and floor champion.

She has placed in the top three in semifinal one of the NCAA Championships on vault, bars and floor along with five All-Pac-12 Conference honors in all-around, vault, bars and floor.

Skinner has been named second team Pac-12 All-Academic selection, as well as Dean’s list and Athletic Director’s Honor Roll.

The now-former Ute joins running back Zack Moss and the Utah Ski Team as Utes to win awards in the 2019 Governor’s State of Sport awards.
