PROVO, Utah – BYU football senior tight end Matt Bushman is preparing for his final year in the Cougar football program. But that’s not the only thing he’s preparing for these days. He’s also getting ready to become a father for the first time.
Bushman announced via his personal social media that he and his wife Emily were expecting their first child together later this year.
“Mama and Papa Bushman coming 2020! 👶🏼👧🏻,” Bushman said on Instagram.
The couple has been married since June 2018. Like Matt, Emily Bushman was an athlete at BYU as well. She was part of the women’s volleyball program from 2015-2018 as an opposite hitter and middle blocker for the Cougars.
Heading into the 2020 BYU Football season, Bushman will be looked upon as one of the Cougars top players in the program. Bushman turned down the NFL Draft process to return one more year to play for BYU.
In his first three seasons, Bushman has hauled in 125 receptions for 1,719 yards and nine touchdowns which puts him in elite company with BYU tight ends of the past.
