BYU’s Gavin Baxter Rises Up To Throw Down Dunk On Alley-Oop From TJ Haws

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – BYU forward Gavin Baxter threw down an alley-oop pass from TJ Haws during the Cougars’ West Coast Conference Tournament game with the Saint Mary’s Gaels.
The Cougars faced the Gaels in the semifinals of the WCC tourney at the Orleans Arena on Monday, March 9.
Baxter rolled to the hoop and rose up to catch the pass from Haws before throwing the ball through the cylinder with both hands. Baxter’s slam gave BYU a 12-8 lead with 11:55 left in the first half.

Baxter ended the first half with 4 points on 2-2 field goals. He also had one block during his time on the court.

The Cougars took a 26-20 lead over the Gaels at the end of the first half.
BYU controlled the first 20 minutes of the game with some impressive defense that featured multiple shot clock violations by Saint Mary’s.
The Cougars limited the Gaels to 29.6 percent shooting including 33.3 percent from downtown during the half.
BYU went to the break having shot 50.0 percent from the field including 40.0 percent from three.
Jake Toolson led the Cougars with 9 points in the first half.

The Gaels vs. Cougars game is broadcast on KSL NewsRadio 1160 AM and 102.7 FM. The game is televised on ESPN2.
