Utah State Upsets San Diego State In OT On Last Second Shot In MWC Tournament

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The No. 11 seed Utah State women’s basketball team upset the no. 6 San Diego State Aztecs on a last-second jumper in overtime during the Mountain West Conference Tournament.
The Aggies played against the Aztecs at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas on Sunday, March 1.
USU forward Hailey Bassett connected on a jumper with 2.6 seconds remaining in overtime to lift the Aggies to an 81-79 victory.

Bassett’s bucket helped the Aggies advance to the MWC tourney quarterfinals. It’s the first time in the conference’s tournament that a No. 11 seed has advanced to the quarterfinals.

Bassett finished the game with 29 points on 8-13 shooting and 10-13 from the charity stripe.
Utah State ended the game shooting 41.7 percent from the field compared to 38.0 percent by San Diego State.
The Aztecs were led by Taylor Kalmer’s 22 points.

The No. 11 Aggies will play the No. 3 Wyoming Cowboys in the MWC tourney quarterfinals on Monday, March 3 at 9:30 p.m. (MDT).
