BYU Basketball To Play In Bahamas As Part Of 2020 Junkanoo Jam
PROVO, Utah – BYU basketball is experiencing a special season right now, but work on next year’s 2020-21 hoops schedule is already coming together. The Cougar hoops program announced on Wednesday that they would be participating in the 2020 Junkanoo Jam located at Bimini, Bahamas.
The four-team Junkanoo Jam field takes place from November 17th-21st and will feature BYU, George Mason, Tulsa, and Boston College from the ACC.
From BYU’s press release: Bimini is located just 50 miles off Florida’s coast and is the closest Bahamian island to the United States, boasting miles of pristine beaches. Known as Ernest Hemingway’s favorite escape, Bimini is historically significant. Visitors from around the world enjoy its historical complexity and renowned past.
BYU’s first taste of a pre-season tournament under head coach Mark Pope was earlier this year when they participated in the Maui Invitational scoring victories over UCLA and Virginia Tech. Those wins helped catapult BYU into the nationally-ranked season they are currently experiencing right now.
