LOS ANGELES, Calif. – It took a record-setting performance for the Utah gymnastics team to beat the UCLA Bruins. Utah received a perfect 10 score from Abby Paulson on the beam to lift the Red Rocks to a 198.075-198.025 road win over the Bruins.
Entering the meet, both Utah and UCLA were tied in the national rankings at No. 3.
The 49.775 score on the beam set a new school record that stood until 1995. Paulson’s perfect 10 is the first perfect score on the beam for Utah since 2008 and it’s the highest beam score in the nation this season.
