CARSON, Calif. – Utah Royals FC and United States Women’s National Team striker Christen Press scored a beautiful goal late in the second half against Mexico in the semifinal of the 2020 CONCACAF Olympic qualifying.
Press started the game against Mexico on the bench and entered the match in the 68th minute and scored the goal five minutes later.
She took the ball into the 18-yard box and attempted a pass but it was deflected before blasting the ball over the defender and into the back of the net.

Earlier in the qualifiers, Press scored two goals in the first half in the United States win over Costa Rica. Press has been a critical member of the Women’s National team that took home another World Cup in 2019.
The goal came on the day that her club named a new head coach in Craig Harrington. Her teammates on the Royals, Becky Sauerbrunn and Kelley O’Hara started the game for the United States against Mexico.
