Utah Utes Hockey Defeats Weber State To Win Wasatch Cup

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The University of Utah hockey team defeated the Weber State Wildcats 5-2 to win the Wasatch Cup.
The Utes scored their first goal early in the first period when forward Alex King put Utah on the board with 14:30 remaining in the opening period.
Late in the first period, Utah went up 2-0 when defender Steven Pawlow put the puck into the back of the net with 44 seconds left until intermission. Weber State found the back of the net for the first time just 20 seconds later to trail 2-1 at the first intermission.

With 12:28 left in the second period, Brett Myer made it 3-1 Utah over the Wildcats. That was the only goal scored in the second period.
King knocked in another goal just 97 seconds into the third period to put the Utes up 4-1. On a power play, Weber State scored their second and final goal with 7:32 remaining in the game. Utah scored one more goal in the third period to seal the win and the Wasatch Cup.
The Utes reached the Wasatch Cup Championship by beat the Utah State Aggies 9-1.
The Wasatch Cup is a tournament between the hockey teams in the state of Utah, including the Utes, BYU Cougars, Utah State Aggies, Weber State Wildcats and Utah Valley Wolverines.
