Merrill, Anderson Help Utah State Cruise Past Wyoming

LARAMIE, Wyo. – After a slow start in the opening minutes of the game, the Utah State Aggies finished strong with a 68-45 road win over the Wyoming Cowboys.
Sam Merrill led all scorers with 14 points on 4-8 shooting from the field. Alphonso Anderson added 13 points off the bench, along with 4 rebounds and 2 steals on 5-11 shooting.
Both teams started slow, shooting a combined 3-13 from the floor in the first six minutes of the game.
Utah State took a 25-16 lead into the halftime break.

The Aggies had a much better start to their second half and carried the momentum throughout the half, outscoring Wyoming 43-29.
Brock Miller chipped in 11 points and knocked down three of his seven attempts from beyond the arc.
As a team, Utah State shot 47 percent from the field, 7-23 for 30 percent from the perimeter and 13-14 from the free throw line. They dominated the rebound battle, 41-23.
Wyoming on the other hand, didn’t shoot the ball well and only had two players score in double figures. Hunter Maldonado and Kwane Marble II each scored 14 points for the Cowboys as the entire team shot 15-50 for 30 percent from the floor.
Utah State improved their record to 17-6 overall and 6-4 in Mountain West Conference play and have won their last three games. They will finish their two game road trip on Saturday with a showdown against No. 4 San Diego State. The game will tip-off at 8 p.m. and will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network.
