Jazz Center Gobert Blocks Pacers Guard Brogdon, Leads To Easy Layup By Mitchell

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Two-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year and Utah center Rudy Gobert blocked a shot attempt by Indiana Pacers guard Malcolm Brogdon which led to an easy layup by Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell.
The Jazz hosted the Pacers at Vivint Smart Home during Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, January 20.
Gobert extended his right arm to swat Brogdon’s three-foot shot attempt. The ball landed in the hands of Jazz forward Royce O’Neale who pushed it ahead to Mitchell.
Six seconds after Gobert’s block, Mitchell laid the ball up over the rim and through the hoop to give Utah a 63-44 advantage with 10:18 remaining in the third quarter.

At the end of the third quarter, the Jazz led the Pacers 81-63.
Gobert led Utah’s starting lineup with 14 points, 10 rebounds, 1 assist, and a block. He recorded a team-high plus-minus rating of +21 in 27 minutes on the court.
Mitchell scored 13 points on 6-11 shooting including 1-2 from behind the arc. The Jazz guard posted 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and a block. He recorded a +8 plus-minus rating in 24 minutes on the floor.
