Utah Royals Add Midfield Depth In The Form Of Chestley Strother

SANDY, Utah – Utah Royals FC has signed midfielder Chestley Strother, adding much-needed depth prior to the 2020 season. Strother, 25, joins the Royals after spending several seasons playing in the Icelandic and Swedish professional soccer leagues. She is yet to play in the NWSL. Per league policy terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

“Chestley has spent the last few years developing in Sweden and we are excited to have her in Utah bringing some height and athleticism to our midfield,” General Manager Stephanie Lee said.
Most recently Strother played for Sundvall DFF in Sweden’s Division 1. The year prior she recorded 7 assists in 10 appearances for Kvarnsveden IK, a rival of Sundvall DFF also in Sweden’s first division.
In Iceland, Strother played for UMF Sindri, scoring 13 goals in 20 matches in 2017.
Prior to her professional career, Strother attended the University of Texas at Tyler where she played four seasons for the Patriots notching 32 assists, 27 goals, in 74 appearances.
The 2020 Utah Royals FC season schedule is yet to be announced. However, the Royals’ first match is anticipated to be towards the end of April.
