Timmy Allen’s Double-Double Lifts Utah To Win Over Oregon State

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah men’s basketball team won their Pac-12 opener with an 81-69 victory over the Oregon State Beavers.
Timmy Allen led all scorers with 25 points on 6-17 shooting from the floor and 13-15 from the free throw line. He also had 10 rebounds and 3 assists.
Both Gach chipped in 17 points and 6 rebounds, while Rylan Jones posted 14 points, 5 assists and knocked down 4-7 from beyond the arc.
The Utes created separation in the first half when they went on a 12-0 run that led to their largest lead of 9 points. Oregon State stayed close throughout the first portion of the second half before the Utes went on another run to get their biggest lead of 15 with over five minutes left in the game.

As a team, Utah shot 43 percent from the field, 8-17 for 47 percent from the three point line and made 25 of their 28 free throw attempts.
Oregon State was led by Tres Tinkle with 19 points and 6 rebounds. He scored 14 points in the first half and just five in the second half. The senior is the second leading scorer in the conference behind Utah’s Timmy Allen.
Both Ethan Thompson and Zach Reichle each scored 15 points apiece. The Beavers struggled shooting the basketball, connecting on 38 percent from the floor, 3-21 for 14 percent from downtown and 14-19 from the charity stripe.
The Utes won the rebound battle 41-36, which is impressive because the Beavers are one of the better rebounding teams in the conference.
Utah improved their record to 10-3 overall and 1-0 in Pac-12 play. They will have a big showdown on Saturday when they host No. 4 Oregon at the Jon M. Huntsman Center. Tip-off is at 3 p.m. and will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Network.
