Gobert’s Massive Block On Carter Jr. Leads To Bogdanovic’s First Field Goal

CHICAGO, Ill. – Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert blocked a shot by Chicago Bulls center Wendell Carter Jr. into the hands of Jazz forward Bojan Bogdanovic who took the ball to the other end of the court to score his first field goal of the game on a layup.
Gobert’s swat came with 8:27 left in the opening quarter of the game between the Jazz and Bulls at the United Center on Thursday, January 2.
Utah’s two-time defensive player of the year thwarted a hook shot attempt from Carter and batted the ball right into Bogdanovic’s hands. The Jazz forward took the ball the length of three-quarters of the court and laid the ball up over the outstretched arms of a Chicago defender.

Bogdanovic’s bucket cut the Bulls’ lead to 9-4 with 8:31 remaining in the first quarter.
After a slow offensive start, the Jazz had taken the lead by the first timeout of the game with 5:19 left in the opening quarter of play. Utah went to the bench up 14-12.

At the time of the timeout,ย Gobert recorded 2 points on 1-2 field goals, 4 rebounds, and a block in six minutes on the court.
Bogdanovic scored 4 points on 1-3 shooting.
Utah forward Joe Ingles led the Jazz with 5 points on 2-3 shooting including 1-2 from three-point range.

The Jazz’s Royce O’Neale subbed out early in the game with 2 quick fouls. Georges Niang replaced the O’Neale as the first Jazz player to come into the game off the bench. Niang nailed a triple during his first three minutes on the court.
Utah started the game shooting 41.7 percent from the field and 28.6 percent from behind the arc in the first six minutes.
Wendell Carter Jr. began the game with 5 points for the Bulls.
The Jazz continued to maintain the lead over the final minutes of the opening quarter and held a 25-22 advantage after the first 12 minutes of the game.
