Mitchell’s Rises For Jumper Over Portland’s McCollum After Step-back

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Jazz star Donovan Mitchell went behind his back with the basketball before stepping back and rising for a jump shot over Portland Trailblazers guard CJ McCollum.
Mitchell’s impressive move came late in the first half of Utah’s game against the Blazers at Vivint Smart Home Arena on Thursday, December 26.
The Jazz guard whipped the ball behind his back, stepped back, and rose up to bury the 14-foot jumper over the Blazers star.
Mitchell’s basket extended Utah’s first half lead over Portland to 62-48 with 36.4 seconds left in the second quarter.

In his first 19 minutes of play, Mitchell shot 3-8 on field goals including 1-2 from three-point land.
He posted 7 points, 2 rebounds, and 4 assists. He was +15 during his time on the floor in the first half.
Mitchell helped Utah to a 62-52 advantage at the break.

Early in the third quarter, Mitchell busted out another step-back for a big three-pointer. The triple extended Utah’s lead to 76-55 over the Blazers.

The basket was part of a 14-3 run by the Jazz to start the second half.
