Anderson’s 21 Points Helps Utah State Cruise By North Carolina A&T

LOGAN, Utah – Utah State’s Alphonso Anderson scored 21 points to help the Aggies cruise past North Carolina A&T, 81-54.
Utah State outscored North Carolina A&T 38-23 in the first half and 43-31 in the second half to get their fourth win of the season. Anderson shot 6-of-9 from the field and made nine of his 12 free throw attempts. The newcomer also pulled down 6 rebounds and dished out 3 assists in 28 minutes.
Justin Bean notched a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Sam Merrill scored a quiet 10 points on 4-of-9 shooting. He also had 6 rebounds and 5 assists.

The Aggies were clicking from the field, shooting 55 percent, but didn’t shoot the three-pointer as well, making 5 of their 15 attempts from beyond the arc. They shot just 60 percent from the free throw line. Their defense was strong though, limiting North Carolina A&T to 35 percent from the field and from downtown.
Brock Miller added 11 points on three triples, after making a career-high seven threes in their last game against Denver. Utah State dominated the paint outscoring North Carolina A&T 46 to 16.
Utah State improved to 4-0 on the season. They will finish their five game home stand on Monday when they host the University of Texas-San Antonio. Tip-off is at 7 p.m. and will be broadcast on Stadium.
