Corner Canyon Cruises To Semifinals With Win Over Syracuse

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The No. 1-seed Corner Canyon Chargers shutout No. 8-seed Syracuse 56-0 and advance to the 6A semifinals at Rice-Eccles Stadium with their 24th straight win.
They scored 49 points in the first half, led by four touchdown passes from Cole Hagen, connecting with Noah Kjar twice. Hagen also ran in two touchdowns in the lopsided victory.
Corner Canyon will face #20 Lone Peak in the semifinals on Friday at 11 a.m. at Rice-Eccles Stadium.

#20 Lone Peak 37 at #5 Kearns 19
The Knights had a 23-13 lead at the half and held the Cougars to just six points in the second half. Nate Ritchie had two rushing touchdowns and Chase Comer ran in one. Luke Romney had one passing touchdown in the win. Dakota Lynde threw one passing touchdown for Kearns, along with a rushing score from both Ami Leha and Jeff Bassa.
Lone Peak will play #1 Corner Canyon in the semifinals on Friday at 11 a.m. at Rice-Eccles Stadium.
#7 American Fork 28 at #2 Herriman 14
The Cavemen had a 21-7 halftime lead before both teams scored a touchdown in the fourth quarter. Jaxon Gregory led the way with three rushing touchdowns. Future BYU WR Devin Downing caught a pass in the end zone from Easton Greening for American Fork. Jaxon James scored the only offensive touchdown for Herriman.
American Fork will face #6 East in the semifinals on Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Rice-Eccles Stadium.
#6 East 20 at #3 Bingham 16
The Leopards scored two unanswered touchdowns after Bingham scored first. East took the lead for good in the third quarter with a touchdown and held the Miners to just two second half points. Izaak Zimmerman had one touchdown pass, while Iversyn Tapusoa hauled in a receiving touchdown and a ran in a score for East. Troy Mehn and Preston Larson each had a rushing touchdown for Bingham.
East will play #7 American Fork in the semifinals on Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Rice-Eccles Stadium.
