WSU RB Named Big Sky Player Of Week After Record-Breaking Game
OGDEN, Utah – Weber State running back Josh Davis has been named Co-Offensive Player of the Week following his record breaking performance in the Wildcats’ 51-28 win over Northern Arizona.
Davis set a school record with 328 rushing yards. He did so on 34 carries and four touchdowns, the most by a Wildcat since 2010.
On top of the Big Sky honors, Davis was named National FCS Offensive Player of the Week by College Sports Madness.
The 328 rushing yard performance is the fifth most in a game in Big Sky Conference history. It is also the most rushing yards in a game by any player in any division of NCAA football this season. It also ranked as the sixth most all-purpose yard performance in a game in Weber State history.
This season, Davis ranks fourth in the conference in rushing yards at 88.6 per game. He has 91 carries for 620 yards and seven touchdowns this season. The Alta High School product won the 2018 Jerry Rice Award as the National Freshman of the Year.
Weber State remains at No. 4 in the nation in this week’s STATS FCS poll. They have won four in a row and all three of their Big Sky games. The Wildcats will travel to UC Davis on Saturday at 5 p.m. The game will be broadcast on Eleven Sports and Pluto TV channel 545.
