Olympus’ Scotty Edwards Perfecting Another Talent Outside Of Football

HOLLADAY, Utah – Olympus High School football player Scotty Edwards can do it all.
He has scored touchdowns this season for the Titans as a running back, a receiver, a kick returner, on an interception return and he has even passed for a touchdown.
What you probably don’t know is that those same hands that are making those big plays on the football field are also making music on the piano.
“I’m known for my hands always moving,” Edwards said. “I started playing in Kindergarten. My family is a pretty musical family.”
As you could imagine with any five-year-old kid it wasn’t always easy getting him to put the sports equipment down to pick up the sheet music and sit at the piano.
“It was not my favorite thing to do. My mom made me practice usually before school,” Edwards said. “In junior high, I was known for having to leave my friends on the weekends to go home and practice.”
Even with how much time was spent perfecting his musical talents, Edwards was still in love with the game of football. His goal was to earn a college football scholarship. And he has been receiving a lot of attention from Division I programs.

“When that first college coach texted me I was over the moon and couldn’t believe it. It was the first time I thought I could do it.”
Edwards has received scholarship offers from BYU, Utah State, Air Force, Army, and Stanford. He has not made a decision on where he will take his football, and piano talents to next fall.
