PROVO, Utah — Officials announced Provo’s Bulldog Boulevard will officially become Cougar Boulevard on Wednesday.
Provo City Mayor Michelle Kaufusi announced the event Tuesday morning and officials with Brigham Young University confirmed the name change in a later tweet.
The stretch of 1230 North between State Street and Canyon Road was renamed Bulldog Boulevard in honor of Provo High School’s mascot.
The school was built on the corner of University Avenue and 1230 North in 1956 but moved to a new location last year.
The new building is about four miles away from Bulldog Boulevard and the old building and land were sold to BYU.
