SALT LAKE CITY – Green Bay Packer and former BYU running back Jamaal Williams is still recovering from the helmet-to-helmet hit he had to endure last night against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Earlier today, Williams said that he’s “Gucci” as he continues recovery after being checked for head and neck injuries overnight at a Green Bay hospital. No, he’s not the brand. It’s just slang for great.

Williams’ Packer teammates shared similar sentiments saying the “Swagdaddy” was being his usual self at the hospital.

“He was Jamaal, himself, making jokes,” Packers running back Aaron Jones said. “The nurse was like, ‘Let me listen to your stomach’ and he was like, ‘For what? So you can hear how empty it is?’ I was like, ‘Oh yeah, he’s perfectly fine. It’s Jamaal.’”

Anyone that remembers Williams’ time at BYU would tell you that sounds a lot like the man they called “J-Man the China Man” or “Baby J” while he was setting records for the Cougars.

Jones and Williams have a close bond since the two of them both were drafted by the Packers in the same 2017 class.

Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said Williams is doing well after spending last night in a hospital.

There still hasn’t been any official word on the specific injury Williams in last night’s helmet-to-helmet hit. We will continue to update this story as we gather more information.

Last night was Williams’ first start of the season before going down on the first play of the game against the Eagles. Through four weeks, Williams has totaled 87 yards rushing and 55 yards receiving.
