“This season, Oldroyd has showcased his ability to be diverse,” said KSL Sports’ Tom Hackett.
Hackett was a two-time Ray Guy award-winning punter for the University of Utah. The former Ute won the prestigious award in 2014 and 2015.
“He can hit the big ball, but can also check the ball up inside the 10,” continued Hackett. “Any good punter understands that their defense relies heavily on them pinning opponents deep, fortunately for BYU and their defense, they have had the luxury of having a lot of green grass behind them when they head on out to play. Congratulations on a tremendous season to date, Jake.”
Oldroyd is a versatile specialist for BYU. He not only punts for the Cougars but he kicks field goals as well. He is currently third in the country for most field goals made per game with 2.5.
The kicker has made 10 of his 11 field-goal attempts this season.
