Courage Shutout Royals At Rio Tinto Stadium

SANDY, Utah – The North Carolina Courage shutout Utah Royals FC 3-0 at Rio Tinto Stadium.
The Royals were blanked by the first-place Courage on Saturday, September 21 for their second consecutive loss.
The Courage extended their win streak to six games with the win over Utah.

Utah was outshot on the night 14-12 and only controlled the ball for 42% of the match.
North Carolina was led by goals from Sam Mewis, Jaelene Hinkle, and Debora Cristiane de Oliveira. It was the Courage’s 14th win of 2019. They moved to a record of 14-4-4 with the victory.
The Courage also clinched their third consecutive NWSL Shield in the shutout.
Utah suffered its eighth loss of the season and fell to a record of 9-4-8.
Up next for the Royals is a rescheduled match with the Seattle Reign. They two will play on Wednesday, September 25 at 8 p.m.
The Reign and Royals were originally scheduled to face each other on September 18.
The NWSL match was canceled due to heavy amounts of rain in the Seattle area which created an unsafe playing surface.
