PROVO, Utah – BYU’s game against No. 24 USC is a huge opportunity for the Cougar Football program to get a signature win in this 2019 season.
To pull off an upset, BYU knew they needed to pull out all the stops and they did just that with their first touchdown of the game against the Trojans.
BYU brought out their “scrum” package on 3rd & goal. It was a heavy package that featured some of BYU’s defensive personnel.

At quarterback, the Cougars had Austin Kafentzis, a former record-setting quarterback at Jordan High School. Fullback featured BYU’s massive defensive tackle in Khyiris Tonga and at running back was Dayan Ghanwoloku.
Ghanwoloku was a running back in high school from his days at Northridge High School and Ghanwoloku was able to pick up the big touchdown score to get the Cougars on the board.

This formation was not foreign to the BYU offense. Last year against Utah and Western Michigan in the bowl game, the Cougars used a similar package and both times it worked resulting in touchdowns.
Ghanwoloku now has two career rushing touchdowns in his BYU career.
