KNOXVILLE, Tennessee – The BYU Cougars couldn’t capitalize on a big defensive stop as they immediately went three-and-out on following offensive possession including a muffed snap on third down.
The Cougars had the ball on their own side of the field in the second quarter but had to punt on fourth down following a muffed snap on third down.
The ball was snapped by BYU center, James Empey as wide receiver, Aleva Hifo was coming across the backfield in motion. The ball deflected off Hifo and never made it safely into the hands of quarterback, Zach Wilson.
Wow! A lot went wrong in such a short amount of time on that #BYU drive.
2&2… why not run with Williams???
Then bad timing on that snap leads to a loss of 11 and a punt.#BYUFootball #BYUvsTENN #KSLSports— Sam Farnsworth (@SFarnsworthKSL) September 8, 2019
Prior to the BYU offensive drive, the Cougars stopped the Vols on fourth down to get the ball back via turnover on downs.
