Orem’s Big Plays, Defense Lead To Win Over Alta

SANDY, Utah – Two big plays that led to touchdowns as well as stops on defense helped the Orem Tigers knock off the Alta Hawks in region 7 action in KSL’s Game Night Live Game of the Week.
The two big touchdown plays for Orem happened in the first half as Kanekulani Kahala-Giron connected with Jakob Robinson on a 78-yard and 75-yard touchdown.
Orem had a 16-0 lead entering the fourth quarter before the Hawks made their comeback attempt.
Cinco Lucero threw a two-yard touchdown pass to Wilson Murray to cut the lead to eight. The back-breaker for the Hawks was allowing a 95-yard kick return for a touchdown from Orem running back Buju Tuisuvura.

Alta showed some signs of life midway through the fourth quarter when Lucky Finau intercepted a pass and returned it 40-yards for a touchdown and Orem’s lead was 23-16. The Hawks stopped Orem on their next possession as they tried to run out the clock.
When Alta had a chance potentially tie the game but couldn’t get the ball into the end zone as they turned the ball over on downs on their last possession.
Orem improves their record to 2-2 overall and 1-0 in region play. They will host Skyridge next Friday.
Alta drops to 1-2 overall and 0-1 in region 7. They will host Corner Canyon next Friday.
KSL’s Game Night Live Game of the Week next Friday will be at Stansbury as they host rival Tooele. The game will begin at 7 p.m. and can be seen on the KSL TV app or KSLSports.com
