Royals Forward Christen Press Selected NWSL Player Of The Month

SANDY, Utah – Utah Royals forward Christen Press has been selected as the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) Player of the Month for August.
Press was previously selected in April of 2015.
Press notched two goals in two minutes on August 7 to help the Royals defeat Sky Blue 3-0.

On August 17 she tallied her third goal of the month after she scored in the 60th minute to open the scoring as the Royals beat the Orlando Pride 2-0.
Portland Thorns forward Christine Siclair finished second in the voting while Press’ fellow Royals teammate, Amy Rodriguez, finished third.
During the month of August, Press and the Royals picked up 9 points from a potential 15. Their only loss came against the Chicago Red Stars on August 3, when the Royals lost 2-0. They then won three consecutive matches before closing out the month with a 0-0 draw against the Washington Spirit.

Utah Royals FC returns to action this Friday, September 6 at Rio Tinto Stadium against the Portland Thorns FC. Utah currently sits in 4th, eight points behind league leaders Portland.
As it stands, the Royals currently sit in a playoff position with six games remaining in the regular season. Although, only one point separates the Royals and the Reign who currently find themselves on the outside looking in.
