Former Utah Coach Urban Meyer Visits Utes Practice
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – After making a stop to visit his former assistant coach Gary Andersen in Logan, former Utah head coach Urban Meyer made the trip south to visit Kyle Whittingham and the Utes.
Whittingham took over as head coach of the Utes when Meyer left the program to be the head coach of Florida in 2005.
“It was good to see him and spend time with him,” Whittingham said after practice. “I guess we will be seeing him a lot on TV now from the FOX studio.”

After Meyer retired from coaching at Ohio State last season, he signed with FOX sports to be an analyst during the college football season.
While at Utah, Meyer led the Utes to Mountain West Conference championships in both seasons at the helm in 2003 and 2004 and also led the program to a Fiesta Bowl victory and an undefeated season.
They were the first non-BCS school to win a BCS bowl game.
In his two seasons with the Utes, Meyer held a 22-2 record and a 13-1 record in conference play. Whittingham’s first game as the head coach was the Fiesta Bowl as he and Meyer were co-head coaches in the game when they announce Whittingham would take over for Meyer after the season.
