SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Fall camp has officially ended for the University of Utah and they will now turn their attention to their season opener at BYU on August 29. At the end of the camp, head coach Kyle Whittingham announces the captains and leadership council.
Whittingham has the players vote for both the captains and the leadership council.
The difference between the two positions is the captains are teams’ representatives before the game. The leadership council has more players on it and they meet once a week to discuss the team’s uniform combination for the upcoming game. Also, any time that something needs to be discussed with coach Whittingham, it’s the leadership council, who will address anything about the team.
Team Captains
Most years, Whittingham will name six team captains, two from the offense, two on defense and two on special teams. This year, Utah has five captains, two on offense and defense and one on special teams.
Here are the team captains for the Utes:
- Senior QB Tyler Huntley
- Senior OL Darrin Paulo
- Senior DE Bradlee Anae
- Senior DT Leki Fotu
- Freshman P Ben Lennon
