LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The United States Men’s Basketball Team has begun training camp in preparation for the FIBA World Cup and Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell is making the most of his opportunity.

Mitchell is one of 17 NBA players that are competing for a spot on the 12-man roster that will go to China for the World Cup of basketball.

The Utah Jazz guard is wearing number 53 for Team USA.

With over 12 players pulling out of contention to play for the U.S., Mitchell will likely make the roster but he still has to earn it.

Former Ute Kyle Kuzma is also competing for a roster spot with Team USA.

Mitchell has released multiple colorways of his Adidas signature sneaker, D.O.N. Issue #1, but he has a special pair for the occasion with Team USA.

The FIBA World Cup runs from September 1st through the 15th in China.

Team USA has five games coming up for Mitchell to showcase his skills beginning on August 9 at 8 p.m. in the blue versus white game in Las Vegas.

They will stay in Vegas on August 16 to face former Jazzman Ricky Rubio and Spain.

Then they will travel to Australia for two games against Joe Ingles and the Australian national team on Thursday, August 22 at 3:30 a.m. and Friday, August 23 at 10 p.m.

The United States will finish exhibition play on Monday, August 26 at 3:30 p.m. against Canada. All five games will be broadcast on NBA TV.
