SANDY, Utah – Real Salt Lake forward Jefferson Savarino gave the Claret and Cobalt the early 1-0 lead over Eastern Conference leader Philadelphia Union.
Savarino’s goal came in the 23rd minute as Aaron Herrera made a long pass from midfield to the RSL striker, who put one touch on the ball and fired the shot in the back of the net with his left foot.
It’s the fourth goal of the season for the Venezuelan, who is making his second appearance with RSL since returning from international duty at the Copa America Tournament.

Herrera picked up his third assist of the season.
RSL is hoping to bounce back from a disappointing loss last week on the road against the San Jose Earthquakes, when they gave up a goal in the final moments of the match to lose 1-0.
The Union hold a four point lead over D.C. United for the top spot on the Eastern Conference table.
