LYON, France – The United States Women’s National Team got off to a great start in their semifinal match of the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup with a goal in the 10th minute by Utah Royals FC striker Christen Press.
Press got the starting nod over Megan Rapinoe against England and capitalized on the opportunity when her Royals teammate Kelley O’Hara was on the right wing and played the ball into the box that set Press up perfectly for a header that put the ball into the back of the net.
It was the first goal of the tournament for Press and her 49th career goal with the national team. O’Hara notched her second assist of the World Cup with her first one coming against Thailand in their World Cup opener as the U.S. picked up a 13-0 win.

The United States are trying to return to their second consecutive World Cup final after winning the whole tournament in 2015. The winner of the United States and England will face the winner of the Netherlands and Sweden.
Press has one goal to her name this season for the Utah Royals in two matches played. She scored two goals last season in NWSL play, her first season with the Royals.
