Monarchs Appoint Former RSL All-Star As Interim Head Coach

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Real Monarchs appointed Jamison Olave to serve as interim head coach after Martin Vasquez left his position Monday, according to the club.
Olave joined the Monarchs as an assistant coach in 2017.
The Monarch’s new leader joined the Real Salt Lake family as a player. In fact, he was the first person to ever score a goal at Rio Tinto Stadium on October 9, 2008.

Olave aided RSL in their only MLS Cup title and was named to the MLS All-Star team in 2010 and 2011.
His other accolades include 2010 Defender of The Year and being selected for the MLS Best XI in 2011, according to the club’s website.
Olave comes into the head coaching position with a 6-3-6 record this season. His team sits at twelfth in the Western Conference.
In their most recent match, the Monarchs beat the Tulsa Roughnecks 3-1.

The Monarchs’ next match is on Saturday, July 6 against New Mexico United at their home – Zions Bank Stadium.
