SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Cougar Tracks podcast welcomed in College Football Insider Brett McMurphy from Watch Stadium.

McMurphy and I discussed what the future of college realignment looks like and BYU’s place in those conversations.

Along with the future of college realignment, we also discuss what would be the best path for BYU to join a Power Five conference.  Is it joining a Group of Five and winning a lot or is it staying the independent path?

After the current College Football Playoff deal is up after 2026, would an expanded Playoff change the landscape?

A lot of great BYU and college football conversation with McMurphy on Cougar Tracks, the new daily BYU podcast powered by KSL Sports.

Show notes for this episode of the Cougar Tracks Podcast on KSL Sports:

(3:25):  BYU-Notre Dame series has a renewed sense of optimism.

(11:45):  Will BYU be in a conference by the time the Cougars and Irish square off again (assuming BYU and Notre Dame actually play again)?

(16:04):  Interview with Watch Stadium’s Brett McMurphy forecasting what will possibly happen in the next wave of conference realignment and the best path for BYU football to join a Power Five conference.

(38:05):  Would an expanded College Football Playoff change BYU’s stance on joining a Group of Five league?

(45:00):  Weekly mailbag segment!  Topics discussed:  What changes will we see with BYU’s offense in 2019?  The BYU football player who will surprise in 2019 and what impact (if any) would the NCAA potentially banning California schools from NCAA Championships have on BYU?
