SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – One of the best friendships on the Utah Jazz seems to have reached a point of physical separation.

According to reports, Naz Mitrou-Long will be joining the Cleveland Cavaliers for the Summer League. Mitrou-Long was on a two-way contract with the Utah Jazz and the team’s G League affiliate, the Salt Lake City Stars last season.

In his second season with the Jazz organization, Mitrou-Long appeared in 14 games and averaged 1.1 points and 1.1 assists per outing. In 32 games with the Stars, he averaged 18.7 points, 5.0 assists and 4.8 rebounds per game.

An alumnus of Iowa State, Mitrou-Long has a well document friendship with his college teammate and emerging Jazzman Georges Niang. For a while, the two were even roommates while living in Salt Lake City.

Jazz fans will still have the chance to Mitrou-Long again, even if it’s in another uniform. The Cavs are slated to participate in the upcoming Salt Lake City Summer League that will take place July 1-3.
