OGDEN, Utah – Weber State’s head women’s soccer coach Tim Crompton has been temporary lifted to the interim athletic director role.
The university made the announcement on Tuesday that Crompton would serve in the spot left open by the departure of Jerry Bovee while administrators continue to find a permanent replacement.
Bovee was hired by his alma mater, Utah State, as the university’s deputy athletics director in April. It is believed that Bovee will be the heir-apparent to John Hartwell as the Aggies’ athletic director.

Weber State’s vice president of administrative services Norm Tarbox said that there is no time table for hiring a full-time athletic director and he’s confident that Crompton can do a solid job in the meantime.
“Tim brings a lot of talents to this role, and he has great relationships on and off campus,” said Norm Tarbox, Vice President for Administrative Services, who oversees the WSU Athletics Department. “Over the years, we have a developed a strong, supportive culture in Wildcat Athletics. Tim has been a major contributor to that culture, and he bleeds purple.”
Crompton has been working as the Wildcats’ women’s soccer coach for the last 15 years. He earned Big Sky Coach of the Year honors in 2018 after leading Weber State to the regular season conference title with a record of 7-1-1.
His assistant, Meagan Thunell, will be working as the head coach while Crompton serves as the athletic director.
