SANDY, Utah – The Utah Royals are sending another player to the 2019 Women’s World Cup in France.
It was announced on Saturday that Royals midfielder Desiree Scott had been named to the Canadian Women’s National Team roster.
Scott’s call-up to the first team is likely in response to an injury sustained by fellow Royals teammate Diana Matheson, who has been listed as out for the tournament on the world’s biggest stage.

It will be Scott’s third appearance in the World Cup and her support group in Utah couldn’t be any happier for her.
“Congratulations to Diana,” Utah Royals general manager Stephanie Lee said. “It’s an incredible honor for her to represent Canada in the World Cup, and well deserved.”
The Royals are sending a bunch of players to the World Cup, which will begin on June 7 in France. On the U.S. National Team alone, the Royals will be represented by Becky Sauerbrunn, Kelley O’Hara and Christen Press.
