CLEVELAND, Ohio – Former BYU linebacker Sione Takitaki has officially signed his rookie contract with the Cleveland Browns, becoming the last 2019 Browns draft pick to do so.
Takitaki was a third round pick to the Browns after a successful senior season with BYU.
The Browns pointed to the Wisconsin game that had them really like Takitaki. The BYU linebacker had 13 total tackles, including 8 solo take downs to go with his 2 tackles for loss and 1 sack.
He finished his senior campaign with 119 tackles, 75 solo tackles, 10 for loss and 4 sacks.
Takitaki is very well prepared for the beginning of his NFL career because his college coaches helped him along the way.

“They felt like that me wanting to play in the NFL that they wanted to put me back at linebacker,” Takitaki mentioned in an interview with the Browns. “That defensive end spot was great for me too. It helped me out for all of these teams [scouting him] and the Browns definitely took a look at that to show them my versatility.”

It seems as though third round picks take longer to sign their contracts because they have more negotiation power than other rounds. Former Ute Cody Barton is in the same boat as he is the only Seattle Seahawks draft pick that still has yet to sign with the team.
