Desert Hills Powers Past Dixie To Win 4A Baseball Title
ST. GEORGE, Utah – The Desert Hills Thunder defeated the Dixie Flyers 16-3 to claim the 4A state baseball championship.
In the run-rule shortened game, the Thunder were led by Drew Thorpe, who had three hits and five RBIs to lead his team to the title.
It was a rematch of last season’s 1-0 victory by Dixie in the state championship. This time around, there would be no nail-biting or white knuckles as the Thunder blew away the Flyers to get their revenge.
The game started with the Flyers taking a 2-0 lead after their first turn at bat. The Thunder responded with five runs of their own in the first inning and from there the rout was on.
Dallen Turner picked up the win on the mound for the Thunder, who finished their championship season with a 27-3 record. Desert Hills went 5-0 in the state tournament en route to lifting the trophy at the end.
