Aggies Sending 17 Athletes To NCAA West Preliminary Track Meet

LOGAN, Utah – The Utah State track and field team will send 17 athletes to compete in 20 event at the NCAA West Preliminaries in Sacramento, California.
The Aggies will represented by 11 men and six women at the next step in qualifying for the NCAA Outdoor Finals in Austin, Texas on June 5-8.
Most recently, the men and women competed in the Mountain West Outdoor Championships, where the men took third and the women took sixth.

Sindri Gudmunsson, the team’s Icelandic-born javelin-thrower, is the highest seeded man heading into the prelims. His throw of 73.69 meters at the Mountain West Championships landed him the 6-seed at the West Prelims. His throw was also the ninth best in the nation.
Senior Cierra Simmons-Mecham is the highest seeded Aggie woman at the prelims. After taking second at the conference championships in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, she’ll have the seventh seed in the West.
The meet will take place May 23-24 at Hornet Stadium on the campus of Sacramento State University.
