SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah track and field team will send seven athletes to compete in eight events at the NCAA West Preliminary meet in Sacrament, California.

All seven of the Utes who will compete in the prelims are women, and three of them are freshmen.

The Ute runners are led by Sarah Feeny, who will compete in both the 1,500-metter and 5K. She’s ranked as the fourth-best in the West Region in the 1,500-meter after setting a personal best and school record time of 4:13:53. She also has the school record in the 5K with a time of 15:41:81, good for the eighth-best mark in the West Region.

Poppy Tank will compete in the 10,000-meter race after running the event for the first time ever at the Pac-12 Outdoor Championships last week. She took seventh place and set the fifth-best time in school history in an impressive showing in the event, which qualified her for the prelims.

Sarah Newton, Bella Williams, Brooke Manson, Cara Woolnough and Skyler Blair rounded out the group of qualifiers for the Utes.

The meet will take place May 23-24 at Hornet Stadium on the campus of Sacramento State University.
