NEW ORLEANS, La. – Former Utah linebacker Chase Hansen has been waived by the New Orleans Saints.
Hansen signed with the Saints and was invited to their rookie minicamp on May 2 after going undrafted in the 2019 NFL. He was waived Friday in a move to make room on the New Orleans 90-man roster for another local, former USC linebacker Porter Gustin, who starred at Salem Hills in high school.
The former Ute linebacker was a menace on the field for Utah last season, racking up a team-high 114 tackles in 13. He was named a first-team All-Pac-12 selection but finished his career on the sidelines as a back injury kept him out of Utes’ appearance in the Holiday Bowl.
