Utah Beats No. 12 Arizona State; Kinneberg’s 600th Win

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The University of Utah baseball team upset No. 12 Arizona State with a 6-3 win at Smith’s Ballpark. It was Utah head coach Bill Kinneberg’s 600th career win.
The Utes scored three of their six runs in the first inning and held a 5-0 lead before the Sun Devils scored their first run.
They created separation with Oliver Dunn and Rykker Tom both singled and right fielder Erick Migueles hit a home run.
Pitcher Joshua Tedeschi gave up just two hits through six innings, holding Arizona State, one of the nation’s top hitting teams to two runs on four hits.

Kinneberg has been the head coach of the Utes since 2005. He began his coaching career in 1981 as an assistant coach for UTEP before being the head coach for one season in 1985. Kinneberg moved on to Wyoming for six years when he went to Arizona State as an assistant for one season. In 1996, he was the head coach of the Utes.
This season, the Utes are 12-21 overall and 4-14 in the Pac-12.
Utah will face Utah Valley in Orem on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
