SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah Jazz fans are petitioning to have Ricky Rubio’s “Meow” from the Vivint commercial to be played at Vivint Smart Home Arena when a Jazz player hits a three-pointer.
The petition was started on Change.org and fans want to switch out the “Power Up” sound effect from Super Mario Bros. to the famous “Meow” from Rubio.
The commercial aired in January and has become instantly famous.
It features Donovan Mitchell, Rudy Gobert and Ricky Rubio sitting on the team bus with Mitchell looking at his home security system on his phone of a cat playing. Gobert asked Mitchell if he was a “cat guy,” Mitchell claimed to not be.
After the two players were done with their conversation, an awkward pause occurred when Rubio let out a “Meow.”
Gobert responded to a Jazz fan requesting the change in the arena and he seemed to have approved it.
