Utes Cold Shooting Costly In Loss To Colorado

BOULDER, Colo. – In a crucial game with conference tournament seeding implications, the Utes went ice cold from downtown in their 71-63 loss to the Colorado Buffaloes.
Utah shot a season-low 19 percent from downtown on 5-for-26 shooting. They hit 24-of-61 attempts from the field for 39 percent.
The Utes had four players score in double figures, led by Sedrick Barefield with 19 points, Donnie Tillman added 14 points. Timmy Allen returned to the lineup after missing the last two games with a back injury, he finished with 11 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals.
Colorado was led by Tyler Bey with 17 points and 10 rebounds, while D’Shawn Schwartz added 16 points and 6 rebounds.
The Buffaloes made 48 percent of their field goals and 33 percent from downtown.
Tough Start For Utah
It took the Utes 5 minutes to score their first bucket of the game, but the Buffs already put up 8 points.
Utah had a two point lead with 9 minutes left when Colorado went on a 6-0 run to grab the lead back.
D’Shawn Schwartz hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to put the Buffaloes up 35-26 at halftime.
Donnie Tillman scored all 8 of his first half points in the last 10 minutes of the first half. For Colorado, Tyler Bey had 15 points and 7 rebounds in the first 20 minutes.
The Utes were ice cold in the opening half from the perimeter as they shot 3-for-16.

Utah pulled to within four before Colorado hit a three-pointer to stretch the lead to seven with 14 minutes left.
The Utes went scoreless for over three minutes followed by Colorado going the same amount of time without scoring as well. The Buffaloes held a 55-46 advantage with 8 minutes left in the game.
Trailing by nine with over two minutes left, Barefield hit a big three-pointer to cut the lead to six.
Colorado stretched the lead back to nine as Lucas Siewert answered with a triple. Wright put the game away with a three-pointer and giving Colorado an eight point lead in the final 40 seconds.

Up Next
Utah fell to 15-13 overall and 9-7 in Pac-12 play. They will play their last two regular season games at home beginning on Thursday against the USC Trojans.
USC is 15-14 on the year, including an 8-8 mark in the Pac-12. Utah won the previous meeting 77-70 in Los Angeles on February 6.
The game will begin at 8 p.m. and will be broadcast on FS1.
